The Beloved Few

During the 1990's, The Beloved Few dropped onto the New England music scene as a classic rock and pop duo. But the name suggested that there were a few members. Actually the name was a reference to the magical music that came from not all but a few of the classic bands and groups we all were lucky to have during the 1960's and 70's.

Michael Troy and David Stefanelli both had encouraging pasts as professional musicians. Troy was cionsidered one of the most gifted pianist/vocalist in the area. And to many, the world! Yes, THAT GOOD. Troy's tributes to both Elton John and Billy Joel were stunning to say the least. No matter what song was set in front of Michael, his rendition and interpretation were always magical.

David Stefanelli's past at the time was impressive as well. A singing drummer at a very young age pushed David into the Boston Music Scene at the age of 16. David luckily was offered the drum spot for songwriter Robert Ellis Orrall propelling him into the world of recording ending up as a first call, session drummer in the Boston area. Developing his skills as an acoustic guitarist as well as a drummer helped a great deal. David went on as drummer for the likes of Robert Ellis Orrall, Brad Delp & Barry Goudreau (RTZ), and Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band.

Let's Write Our Own Music

That's exactly what happened. The Beloved Few project became a song writing vehicle for Michael and David producing two acclaimed releases. The first, The Beloved Few, featured 12 original songs written by Michael and David. The collection was produced by David and mixed by genius mixologist, Bob St. John (Extreme, Duran Duran, Collective Soul). The release was "CD Pick Of The Week" by Boston Globe's Steve Morse. The track "Please Take Care" went on to winning second place in the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest.

David and Michael released a follow-up, 2 song teaser titled "Wire/Lemon Millennium".
